Evans G2 Clear — The Two-Ply Standard for Controlled Power
The Evans G2 Clear is the definitive two-ply tom batter head — built for drummers who want a focused, punchy attack with controlled sustain, without reaching for tape or damping rings. Two layers of 7-mil clear film work together to add mass and sustain control over a single-ply option, producing a tighter, more defined tone that translates exceptionally well both live and in the studio.
The clear construction allows the natural resonance of the drum shell to remain audible, preserving the tonal character of your drums while reining in excess ring. The G2’s two-ply build also extends head life significantly compared to single-ply alternatives — a key consideration for heavy hitters. This is one of the most widely used tom heads in recorded music for good reason: it works, across every genre and every room.
-
Dual 7-Mil Construction: Two matched plies of 7-mil film deliver controlled sustain and a punchy, focused attack without external dampening.
-
Clear Film: Preserves the natural resonance and tonal identity of the drum shell — no colour or coating to tint the sound.
-
Extended Head Life: The two-ply build handles hard striking and frequent tuning changes more durably than single-ply heads.
