Evans G1 Clear — Single-Ply Openness for Maximum Resonance
The Evans G1 Clear is a single-ply 10-mil clear tom head designed for drummers who want the most open, resonant sound their shells can produce. Where a two-ply head adds control by constraining sustain, the G1 gets out of the way — letting the drum breathe fully and produce the long, singing tone that defines traditional and jazz drumming, and increasingly, the big, ambient tom sounds favoured in modern production.
The single ply of 10-mil film provides just enough durability for regular use while remaining responsive at low velocities — ideal for brush playing, light jazz, or any context where sensitivity and tone are prioritised over attack. When paired with a quality resonant head, the G1 Clear produces one of the most musical, natural drum sounds available from any head on the market.
-
Single 10-Mil Ply: Maximum shell resonance and sustain — the open character preferred by jazz, traditional, and ambient rock players.
-
Clear Film: Transmits the drum’s natural wood tone with complete transparency — no coating or colour to alter the resonance.
-
Sensitive Response: Responsive at low velocities — ideal for brush technique, light jazz, and dynamic playing that rewards a gentle touch.
