Evans EC Resonant — Controlled Tom Resonant with Built-In Tone Ring
The Evans EC Resonant tom head applies the Seamless Sustain Technology (SST) ring concept to the resonant side of the tom — the bottom head. The pre-built dampening ring at the outer edge of the head controls the resonant frequencies that propagate from the bottom of the drum, tightening the overall tom sustain and producing a more focused, controlled drum sound from the shell as a whole. When paired with a clear or coated batter, the EC Resonant is the bottom-head component of a very tightly controlled, professional tom sound.
It is thin enough to respond naturally to the batter head’s vibration and allow the drum’s pitch to speak clearly, but the SST ring prevents the outer-edge resonance from building up into an unfocused wash. The EC Resonant is the head choice for drummers who want to control their tom sound from both sides of the drum, not just with tape or gels on the batter.
