One Pedal. Two Cams. Every Style Covered.
The Tama HP600D Iron Cobra 600 is the mid-range entry in Tama’s legendary Iron Cobra pedal family — delivering much of the engineering and feel of the flagship Iron Cobra 900, in a more streamlined and accessible format. Its defining feature is the Duo Glide Cam: a single, reversible cam mechanism that lets you switch between two fundamentally different pedal feels — a round Rolling Glide sprocket for smooth, linear strokes, and an offset Power Glide sprocket for accelerated attack and increased speed — without buying a second pedal. Combined with a double chain drive, Speedo-Ring ball-bearing rocker cam, Swivel Spring Tight system, and Para-Clamp II Pro hoop mount, it is one of the most feature-rich and adaptable pedals in its price class. Whether you play rock, funk, jazz, pop, metal, or fusion, the HP600D responds to your technique with the fluidity and precision the Iron Cobra name demands.
Duo Glide Cam — Two Pedals in One The headline feature of the HP600D. The Duo Glide Cam is a single reversible sprocket that offers two distinct cam profiles. Flip it to Rolling Glide for a true round sprocket — delivering a smooth, consistent, and linear feel throughout the stroke, ideal for jazz, funk, and dynamics-first playing. Flip it to Power Glide for an offset sprocket — accelerating the stroke for increased speed and impact, ideal for rock, metal, and heavy-hitting styles. Switch between the two in seconds with a simple adjustment. No tools required beyond a drum key.
Double Chain Drive The same durable double chain drive system used in the flagship Iron Cobra 900 series. Two parallel chains deliver smoother, more accurate motion and significantly greater durability than single-chain designs — eliminating lateral play and ensuring every ounce of foot energy is transferred directly to the beater.
Speedo-Ring Rocker Cam A ball-bearing-equipped rocker cam that replaces the traditional nylon rocker found on lesser pedals. The built-in ball bearing eliminates friction at the pivot point, giving the pedal a noticeably smoother, faster, and more responsive action — a detail you feel immediately in fast footwork and ghost notes.
Swivel Spring Tight System A clever half-moon shaped spring tension rod that prevents the spring from twisting during play. Twisting springs are the single biggest cause of inconsistent pedal feel over time — Spring Tight eliminates this entirely, maintaining consistent resistance and smooth power transmission stroke after stroke, gig after gig.
Power-Strike Beater The included Power-Strike beater features a dual-surface head — felt on one side for warm, rounded attack and plastic on the other for focused, punchy impact. Rotate the beater to switch surfaces in seconds. Beater angle is fully adjustable via a quick-set mechanism for dialling in your preferred throw distance and impact force.
Para-Clamp II Pro Hoop Mount The Para-Clamp II Pro rotates its head section to match the angle of any bass drum hoop — so the pedal sits perfectly flat on the floor regardless of your drum’s hoop geometry. This eliminates the rocking and instability that plagues pedals with fixed hoop clamps, and grips securely to a wide range of hoop diameters.
Precision-Designed Hinge A newly designed hinge engineered specifically for the 600 series delivers more precise footboard articulation and increased long-term durability compared to older Iron Cobra hinge designs. The result is a more direct, responsive connection between your foot and the beater.
Stable Iron Cobra Frame The footboard and baseplate are built on Tama’s proven Iron Cobra frame design — wide, low, and solid underfoot. The pedal stays planted during the hardest playing without walking, sliding, or lifting, even on smooth stage floors.
Fully Adjustable Spring tension, beater angle, beater height, footboard angle, and cam orientation are all independently adjustable — giving you full control over feel, response, and power delivery. The HP600D can be fine-tuned to suit any playing style, foot size, or musical genre.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Duo Glide Cam and how do I switch between settings? The Duo Glide Cam is a single reversible sprocket built into the pedal. One side is the Rolling Glide — a perfectly round cam that delivers a smooth, consistent, linear stroke feel. The other side is the Power Glide — an offset cam that accelerates the stroke for more power and speed at the point of impact. To switch between them, you simply reverse the cam orientation using a drum key. The process takes under a minute and requires no additional tools or parts. It is by far the quickest way to fundamentally change the feel of your pedal without buying a second one.
What is the difference between the Iron Cobra 600 and the Iron Cobra 900? Both share the same double chain drive, Speedo-Ring rocker cam, and Iron Cobra frame DNA. The Iron Cobra 900 adds a more refined cam system (separate Power Glide and Rolling Glide models rather than a single reversible cam), the Cobra Coil return spring system, a Hinge Guard for increased durability, and overall higher-precision machining and finishing throughout. The 600 delivers the majority of the 900’s feel and engineering at a significantly lower price. For most gigging and advancing drummers, the 600 is the sweet spot. The 900 is for players who demand the absolute best Tama makes and are willing to pay the premium for it.
Is the HP600D compatible with electronic drum kick pads? Yes. The HP600D works with kick pads from Roland, Yamaha, Alesis, and other major electronic kit manufacturers. It is the same genuine Yamaha FP-series-quality pedal action, and many e-kit drummers specifically choose the Iron Cobra 600 as an upgrade over the stock pedals that come bundled with electronic kits.
Is this a single or double pedal? The HP600D is a single bass drum pedal. If you need a double pedal for double bass drumming, Tama offers the Iron Cobra 600 Twin Pedal (HP600DTW), which uses the same Duo Glide cam and double chain drive on both sides. Contact us for availability and pricing.
What maintenance does the Iron Cobra 600 need? Very little. The ball-bearing Speedo-Ring and Swivel Spring Tight system are largely maintenance-free. Periodically check chain tension and lubricate the hinge and bearing points with a light machine oil. The double chain is highly durable and should last years under normal gigging use before needing replacement.
Can I adjust the beater to use felt or plastic? Yes. The included Power-Strike beater has a dual-surface head — felt on one side and plastic on the other. Simply rotate the beater shaft to switch between surfaces. Felt delivers a warmer, rounder tone; plastic delivers a sharper, more focused attack. Beater angle and height are also fully adjustable.
