A frame built for stability
Yamaha's own frame design adds a sub-frame just below the rocker shaft for greater stability and durability.
Chain drive, or belt if you prefer
The chain drive gives a smooth, powerful stroke. It converts to belt drive if you want a different, lighter feel, and the belt is included, so you can try both.
2-way beater: two sounds in one
Each beater has two playing surfaces: a normal felt side, and a plastic side that gives a feel close to a wood beater. Turn it around to switch between a round, warm attack and a brighter, punchier one.
Beater shaft that stays put
The teardrop-shaped shaft hole in the rocker holds the beater shaft securely, and the shaft's flat surface stops the 2-way beater from swivelling while you play, so the striking surface stays where you set it.
Beater angle adjustment
Loosen the adjustment screw to set the beater angle freely, together with the footboard angle, for the throw and power you like.
Footboard angle, set independently
Set the footboard to any angle at rest without affecting the beater angle. Adjust it with a drum key, and match the pedal height to your hi-hat and other pedals for an even feel across your feet.
Spring tension that stays where you set it
Adjust the spring tension easily with one hand, then a lock bolt secures the setting so it doesn't loosen during play.
Smooth, natural action
A spring roller with built-in precision bearings gives the pedal a smooth, natural action from the first stroke.
Simple, secure hoop clamp
A wing bolt tightens the clamp firmly for secure attachment, and the clamp adapts to different bass drum hoop thicknesses.
Footboard and base stay together
Rubber-coated tie rod ends keep the footboard and base frame from coming apart, so the pedal travels and sets up without fuss.

What is included?

Chain or direct drive: which should I choose?
The chain drive gives a smooth, powerful stroke and converts to belt drive with the included belt. The direct drive links footboard and beater with a solid link for the most immediate response. Use the selector on this page to compare the FP9500 models we stock, or try them in the showroom.
How is the FP9500 different from the FP9 series?
The FP9 is Yamaha's newer flagship pedal, with a three-position Quick Adjusting Cam or Link, bearing chamber, weight adjustable beater and angle checker. The FP9500 is Yamaha's proven professional pedal with a 2-way beater and simpler set-up. We stock both; ask us to compare them in the showroom.
