A frame built for stability
Yamaha's own frame design adds a sub-frame just below the rocker shaft for greater stability and durability.
Belt drive for a light, fluid feel
The belt drive connects footboard and beater with a belt instead of a chain, for a lighter, more fluid feel under your foot.
Longer footboard
The FP8500's footboard is longer than the FP9500's. The extra length gives your foot more room to move along the board, which suits heel-toe and sliding techniques and lets you choose where you play for more leverage or more speed.
Beater shaft that stays put
The teardrop-shaped shaft hole in the rocker holds the beater shaft securely, and the shaft's flat surface stops the beater from swivelling while you play, so the striking surface stays where you set it.
Beater angle adjustment
Loosen the adjustment screw to set the beater angle freely, for the throw and power you like.
Spring tension that stays where you set it
Adjust the spring tension easily with one hand, then a lock bolt secures the setting so it doesn't loosen during play.
Smooth, natural action
A spring roller with built-in precision bearings gives the pedal a smooth, natural action.
Simple, secure hoop clamp
A wing bolt tightens the clamp firmly for secure attachment, and the clamp adapts to different bass drum hoop thicknesses. A narrower underplate lets you set the pedal closer to your hi-hat and other pedals.
Footboard and base stay together
Rubber-coated tie rod ends keep the footboard and base frame from coming apart, so the pedal travels and sets up without fuss.

What is included?
The Yamaha FP8500B single bass drum pedal with its beater. A carrying case is not included with the FP8500 series.
FP8500 or FP9500: what's the difference?
The FP8500 has a longer footboard. The FP9500 adds footboard angle adjustment, a 2-way felt/plastic beater and a semi-hard carrying case. Both share Yamaha's sub-frame design, teardrop beater shaft rocker, self-locking spring tension and bearing spring roller. We stock both; ask us to compare them in the showroom.
Chain or belt drive: which should I choose?
Chain drive (FP8500C) gives a strong, positive, powerful stroke. Belt drive (FP8500B) feels lighter and more fluid. Use the selector on this page to switch between them.
