Yamaha's own frame design adds a sub-frame just below the rocker shaft for greater stability and durability. The bearings for both the main and remote beaters sit in this sub-frame, for smoother, more stable movement in a double pedal set-up.
The chain drive gives a strong, positive connection between footboard and beater, for a smooth, powerful stroke.
The FP8500's footboard is longer than the FP9500's. The extra length gives your foot more room to move along the board, which suits heel-toe and sliding techniques and lets you choose where you play for more leverage or more speed.
The teardrop-shaped shaft hole in the rocker holds the beater shaft securely, and the shaft's flat surface stops the beater from swivelling while you play, so the striking surface stays where you set it.
Loosen the adjustment screw to set the beater angle freely, for the throw and power you like.
Adjust the spring tension easily with one hand, then a lock bolt secures the setting so it doesn't loosen during play. A spring roller with built-in precision bearings gives a smooth, natural action.
A wing bolt tightens the clamp firmly and adapts to different bass drum hoop thicknesses. A narrower underplate lets you set the pedals closer together and closer to your hi-hat.
Rubber-coated tie rod ends keep the footboard and base frame from coming apart, so the pedal travels and sets up without fuss.
A universal joint on the rocker shaft gives angular flexibility for smoother movement of the remote pedal, and it's fixed with a single bolt and a bolt holding plate for a secure, simple set-up.
A newly designed spike on the slave pedal keeps it planted while you play.
The Yamaha DFP8500C double bass drum pedal with its beaters. A carrying case is not included with the FP8500 series.
The FP8500 has a longer footboard. The FP9500 adds footboard angle adjustment, a 2-way felt/plastic beater and a semi-hard carrying case.
