Evans EC2S Clear — Focused, Live-Ready Tone with Built-In Control
The Evans EC2S Clear (Extra Clear 2-Ply, SST) is engineered specifically for drummers who need a naturally controlled, punchy tone without the need for tape, moon gels, or damping rings. The secret is Evans’ SST — Seamless Sustain Technology — a thin film ring bonded between the two plies of 7-mil clear film at the outer edge of the head. This pre-built dampener absorbs unwanted overtones and ring at the source, leaving a clean, focused mid-range attack that cuts through a live mix effortlessly.
The EC2S is the head many professional drummers reach for when setting up a new drum because it sounds tuned and stage-ready straight out of the box — no additional dampening required, and no tape to re-apply after every rehearsal. The clear film ensures the drum’s natural shell tone still comes through, just without the excessive sustain that can muddy a live or recorded mix. It is equally at home in a recording session as it is on a stadium stage.
-
SST Dampening Ring: Seamless Sustain Technology — a pre-built film ring between the plies controls ring and overtones without external tape or gels.
-
Dual 7-Mil Clear Film: Two-ply construction delivers punch and durability while the clear finish preserves the shell’s natural tonal character.
-
Stage-Ready Out of the Box: Provides a controlled, professional tone immediately after fitting — ideal for live performance and studio sessions alike.
