Sonor AQ2 150th Anniversary 6-Piece Shell Pack Ebony Replica

150 Years of Sonor History: A True Collector’s Item

To commemorate its 150th anniversary, Sonor has released a highly exclusive variant of its acclaimed AQ2 series. Limited to an incredibly rare 500 pieces worldwide, the Sonor AQ2 150th Anniversary Shell Set (17504025) is designed for the serious player and the dedicated collector alike.

At The Bangalore Drum Shop, we are thrilled to offer this exclusive configuration. It takes the reliable, gig-ready architecture of the standard AQ2 and elevates it with boutique, high-end visual and acoustic refinements usually reserved for Sonor’s flagship SQ2 lines.

8-Ply Maple & Ebony Replica Shells

Unlike standard AQ2 kits that use 7-ply maple, this Anniversary edition features a custom 8-ply hybrid construction. The shell consists of 4 plies of North American Maple, 3 plies of Chinese Maple, and a stunning outer ply of Ebony Replica veneer.

• The Sound: The 7.2mm bass drum shell delivers a massive, punchy low-end, while the 5.8mm toms and snare offer a warm, balanced, and highly articulate tone that projects beautifully.

• The Look: As on all high-end Sonor drums, the Ebony veneer is laid vertically and finished in a flawless clear high-gloss lacquer, creating a luxurious aesthetic that stands out on any stage.

Exclusive Anniversary Appointments

Sonor has packed this kit with unique details to mark the milestone. Every drum features an exclusive AQ2 badge embossed with the 150th Anniversary Logo. Furthermore, the kit ships with special anniversary drumheads, including a custom black, pre-dampened bass drum front head displaying the 150th-anniversary crest.

Pro-Level German Engineered Hardware

This shell set utilizes Sonor’s proven AQ-series hardware to ensure maximum resonance and tuning stability:

• SmartMount Suspension System: This minimalist mount attaches to the rack toms using only two lugs, avoiding direct shell contact to maximize natural sustain and resonance.

• TuneSafe Lugs: Sonor’s newly designed die-cast AQ lugs feature the internal TuneSafe mechanism, preventing tension rods from vibrating loose during heavy playing.

What is in the Box?

This massive 6-piece configuration gives you an expansive tonal canvas for any musical genre:

• 1x 22″ x 17.5″ Bass Drum (with Rosette Mount)

• 1x 16″ x 15″ Floor Tom (with Legs)

• 1x 14″ x 13″ Floor Tom (with Legs)

• 1x 12″ x 8″ Rack Tom

• 1x 10″ x 7″ Rack Tom

• 1x 14″ x 6″ Snare Drum (Matching Ebony Replica)

• 1x DTH 4000 Double Tom Holder

Note: This is a 6-Piece Shell Pack with a Double Tom Holder. Cymbals, cymbal stands, snare stand, kick pedal, and throne are sold separately.

Is This The Right Kit For You?

Vs. Standard Sonor AQ2 Kits The standard AQ2 is a workhorse, but the 150th Anniversary Edition is a statement piece. If you want the reliability of the AQ2 but desire the expansive setup of a 6-piece kit (two rack toms, two floor toms, and a matching snare), plus the prestige and resale value of a drum set limited to only 500 units globally, this is the ultimate upgrade.

The 6-Piece Advantage Having both a 14″ and 16″ floor tom provides incredible low-end options for rock, pop, and fusion playing. The matching 14″x6″ snare drum is extremely versatile, offering a deeper, fatter “crack” than standard 5.5″ snares.
