Evans BD24EMAD2 Clear Bass Drumhead 24″

Evans EMAD Clear Bass Drum Batter — Adjustable Dampening, Powerful Attack

The Evans EMAD (Externally Mounted Adjustable Damper) is one of the most innovative bass drum heads available — a clear single-ply batter featuring Evans’ patented EMAD system, which allows the drummer to dial in the exact amount of dampening they need without removing the head or adding internal muffling. The EMAD ring is a foam ring that fits around the outer edge of the batter side, and the system includes two different ring widths, giving you three distinct dampening options: no ring (open, resonant tone), narrow ring (moderate dampening), or wide ring (maximum dampening with controlled attack and minimal sustain).

The ability to adjust dampening from the front of the drum in seconds is a game-changer for live drummers who move between different acoustic environments regularly. No more reaching inside the drum to reposition pillows or foam, and no more compromises between a great studio sound and a controlled live sound — the EMAD adapts to any room or mix quickly. The clear single-ply construction lets the bass drum shell’s natural tone come through when the ring is removed, giving you an organic, resonant kick sound when the venue and mix allows for it.

• Externally Mounted Adjustable Damper: The EMAD foam ring system fits outside the head — switch between no ring, narrow ring, and wide ring for three distinct dampening levels without ever opening the drum.

• Clear Single-Ply Construction: Allows full shell resonance when the EMAD ring is removed — organic, full kick tone for rooms and mixes where sustain is welcome.

• Two Ring Widths Included: Narrow ring for moderate focus and wide ring for maximum dampening — three total configurations from one head.
