Vic Firth Jazz Rake brushes: retractable, thin and flexible plastic bristles for a bright, brilliant snare sound in jazz and fusion.

Jazz Rake — Classic Feel, Authentic Swish

The Vic Firth Jazz Rake is a traditional fixed-spread brush crafted for jazz drummers who love the open, airy sound of a wide fan and the vintage feel of playing “open” brushes on the snare and ride cymbal.

With a wider fixed spread than retractable designs, the Jazz Rake produces a lush, full swish that evokes the feel of classic jazz drumming — the kind of sound you hear on a 1950s Blue Note recording.

  • Fixed Open Spread: Wide fan delivers the full, classic jazz swish sound without the need for adjustment mid-performance.

  • Lightweight Feel: Natural balance and easy hand movement for fluid brush sweeps and circular patterns.

  • Authentic Tone: Produces the warm, airy brush sound that is the foundation of traditional jazz drumming.

Why buy from The Bangalore Drum Shop
  • Authorised Vic Firth Dealer: Genuine India-market stock with the manufacturer's warranty, supported by us directly.
  • Play it before you buy it: Our Bengaluru showroom is set up so you can sit down and play, and compare against the alternatives in the room.
  • Advice from drummers: The team plays. Ask about sizes, heads, sticks, thrones, pedals and what will actually suit the room you play in.
  • Pan-India delivery: Shipped anywhere in India, packed for transit, with tracking from despatch to your door.
  • GST invoice and after-sales support: Full tax invoice on every order, and a service point in the city rather than a call centre.
