La Special 7A Nylon Tip Drum Sticks

The Promark LA Special 7A Nylon Tip Drum Sticks are a budget-friendly option designed to provide reliable performance for students, schools, and drummers who need a dependable stick without a premium price tag. As part of the “LA Special” series, they offer the popular 7A size with the added benefit of a bright, durable nylon tip.

Lightweight 7A Size with Articulate Nylon Tip

The “7A” size is one of Promark’s thinner and lighter stick options, making it ideal for players who prefer a faster, more nimble stick. This is particularly well-suited for genres like jazz, orchestral, or acoustic settings where lower volumes and precise articulation are key. It’s also a common choice for younger drummers or beginners due to its manageable weight.

The distinguishing feature of this model is its oval-shaped nylon tip. Nylon tips are known for producing a brighter, clearer, and more articulate sound on cymbals, especially ride cymbals, compared to wood tips. They also offer increased durability as they are less prone to chipping and fraying than wood tips, leading to a longer lifespan. The oval shape ensures a consistent contact point for a full sound.

Durable American Hickory Construction

These LA Special sticks are crafted from American Hickory, the most widely used wood for drumsticks. While the “LA Special” series focuses on value, the use of hickory still ensures a good level of resilience, responsiveness, and durability. Hickory is known for its ability to absorb shock and withstand regular use, providing a comfortable and reliable feel.

“LA Special” – Value-Oriented Quality

The “LA Special” line is Promark’s answer to providing accessible quality. These sticks are paired by size and profile for basic consistency, but it’s important to note that they are not weight or pitch matched to the same rigorous standards as Promark’s professional-grade models. This allows Promark to make use of the natural variability and minor cosmetic imperfections found in wood, which enables them to offer these sticks at a significantly more affordable price. They provide a solid, no-frills option for practice, learning, and everyday playing.
