Evans G1 Coated — Single-Ply Warmth with Classic White Coating
The Evans G1 Coated is a single-ply 10-mil white-coated drumhead that delivers a warm, slightly darker and fuller tone than its clear counterpart, thanks to the added texture of the coating. The white coating softens the initial attack slightly — adding warmth and body to the sound — while producing a slightly brushier feel under the stick that makes it a natural partner for coated-preferring players and brush technique on snare.
Like the G1 Clear, this is an open, resonant single-ply head — it lets the shell breathe fully and produces long, singing sustain. But the coating moves the tonal character toward a warmer, more vintage-voiced sound that suits jazz, funk, and studio work where a natural, expressive tom or snare tone is preferred. Combines beautifully with the G1 Clear or Reso 7 as a resonant pairing.
