Evans EC2S Coated — Built-In Control Meets Warm Coated Tone
The Evans EC2S Coated combines the SST (Seamless Sustain Technology) pre-dampening ring of the EC2S series with a white coated top ply — delivering two layers of tone control in one head. The SST ring tames ring and overtones at the outer edge of the head, while the white coating adds warmth and softens the attack. The result is an inherently controlled, warm-sounding head that requires no tape, no gels, and no external dampening of any kind.
This is the snare and tom batter of choice for drummers who record frequently or play venues without significant acoustic treatment — anywhere that a clean, controlled, musical drum sound needs to appear without effort. The coating also makes the EC2S Coated excellent for brush technique, producing a smooth, responsive swish that belies how controlled the head’s sustain characteristics actually are.
