The Evans ST Dry 14-inch snare head: two 7.5-mil plies with edge vents, for a tough, tight snare sound with fewer stray harmonics.

Evans ST Dry Coated — Super Tough, Super Dry Snare Batter

The Evans ST Dry Coated snare head takes the two-ply Super Tough construction and pairs it with vent holes specifically optimised for maximum sustain reduction. Where the ST Coated is already dry, the ST Dry pushes further — producing one of the most controlled, fast-decaying snare sounds Evans makes while retaining the exceptional durability of the two-ply build. If you need a snare that hits hard, decays instantly, and does not require a single strip of tape or a moon gel to sound studio-ready, the ST Dry delivers.

The combination of high-density coating and perforated vent design makes the ST Dry a favourite among recording engineers who mic up drum kits — a snare that naturally produces a short, clean crack requires far less processing and sits in a recorded mix almost without effort. On stage, the tight, dry response also means the snare does not feed back through floor monitors or bleed excessively into overhead microphones.

  • Super Tough Two-Ply Build: Dual-ply heavy-coated construction withstands heavy backbeats, rimshots, and cross-sticks without premature wear.

  • Maximum Vent Dryness: Vent hole configuration optimised for the shortest, most controlled sustain available in a coated snare head.

  • Minimal Processing Required: Short, clean natural decay makes this head a recording engineer’s preference — sits perfectly in a mix with no dampening or EQ trickery.
