The Evans UV1 Coated is a single-ply drumhead with a UV-cured coating that offers distinct advantages over conventional spray-on coatings: it is harder, more wear-resistant, and bonds more thoroughly to the film, resulting in a surface that maintains its feel and tone consistency over a longer period of heavy use. The UV1 produces a bright, full-bodied tone with enhanced attack compared to standard coated heads — the harder coating surface adds clarity and projection to each stroke.
The increased durability of the UV coating makes the UV1 particularly well-suited to rock and heavier styles where a coated head would normally show signs of wear at the centre strike zone within weeks of heavy use. The brighter tonal character compared to a standard white coating also makes the UV1 a strong choice for live performance where projection and cut through a dense mix is important.
