Mastercraft snares of the early 1980s used 10-hole die-cast hoops, uncommon at the time, for clear attack, clarity and consistent tuning. The reissue keeps them, including a reproduction of the original snare-side hoop with a larger snare wire window.
The 18-strand carbon steel long snare wires (6035N) cover the full surface of the snare head, so ghost notes, rolls and fast figures come through with enhanced articulation.
Designed as a full-contact snare wire system, the Roller Action strainer gives you extremely detailed control over snare buzz tone and sensitivity. A single on/off lever and dual guide rollers replace the internal rod of older parallel-action strainers, so adjustment is easy and the action feels smooth and reliable. This system has been faithfully reproduced for the reissue.
Originally made for Mastercraft snare drums, the One-Touch Tone Control lets you make extremely subtle muffling adjustments and switch the muffler on or off in one quick action, so you can tame overtones at the source for recording or a tighter live sound.
Every detail was considered, down to the stock heads: a REMO Coated Ambassador on the batter side (TAMA 50th Anniversary version) and a REMO Ambassador Snare Side head on the bottom, for a classic, versatile snare sound out of the box.
