Made in the USA under the Gretsch Custom and USA Custom line, the G4164HB is a 14″ diameter × 6.5″ deep snare drum built for players craving both projection and personality.

The shell is crafted from 1.2 mm brass plated with hammered chrome, creating a textured surface that gives enhanced presence, a slightly drier tone, and strong attack with defined mid-frequencies.

Key hardware is as pro as it gets: includes Gretsch’s Lightning throw-off strainer for fast response, a Snap-In key holder for convenient tuning, deep die-cast hoops (4 mm) for tuning stability and rimshot cut-through, and a 45° bearing edge for balanced tone between the shell and heads. It comes fitted with a 42-strand snare wire that adds crisp articulation across dynamics.

Stock heads are Gretsch Permatone coated on top and clear on bottom (or as per Gretsch stock specs) – offering a lively, responsive feel right out of the box.

With its hammered shell finish, this snare leans more into cut and projection while retaining enough warmth typical of brass to make it versatile across genres — from funk, rock, blues, pop, to snappy studio work.
