They are built around the needs of Luis Conte, whose playing brings the powerful rhythms of his native Cuba into American pop music, so you get an authentic voice with dependable, up-to-date hardware.
This set pairs the 11″ quinto with the 11¾″ conga from the same series. The smaller quinto sits higher in pitch for lead phrases and accents, while the conga carries the main tumbao groove, so the two drums cover the core of most conga parts. Both drums are 30″ tall, and the matching shells, heads and hardware give the pair a consistent look and feel.
Both shells are made from two plies of Siam Oak (Hevea brasiliensis) and finished in a natural matte finish that lets the wood grain show through. The finish suits both stage and studio set-ups and pairs cleanly with the black hardware.
Each drum is fitted with a MEINL True Skin Buffalo head. Combined with the traditional rims, the buffalo heads give an even more controlled sound, so each stroke speaks clearly and the drums sit well together in a groove.
The 5mm Traditional Tuning Rims (TTR) follow the design of classic Cuban drums and are mounted as close to the shell as possible. Keeping the rim low and tight to the drum helps the heads deliver that controlled, traditional conga sound.
Strong 8mm tuning lugs and black powder-coated hardware let you bring the heads up to pitch with confidence. The black hardware also frames the natural shells for a classic, understated look.
Each drum comes with a MEINL Conga Saver, MEINL Soundpads, an L-shaped tuning key, Tune Up Oil and an accessory pouch, so you have what you need to set up, tune and care for the drums from day one. Conga stands are not included.

The quinto is the smallest and highest-pitched drum, usually used for lead phrases and solos. The conga, here 11¾″, is the middle drum and usually plays the main tumbao groove. The tumba is the largest and lowest drum.
