080-40998370For decades, timbaleros struggled with two things: tuning drums from the bottom while on stage, and shredding their sticks (and hands) on protruding lug screws. The LP Prestige Series solves both.
At The Bangalore Drum Shop, we recommend the Prestige Brass set to professional percussionists who need a versatile instrument that sounds as good under a studio microphone as it does on a loud festival stage.
Unlike traditional Tito Puente models that require a wrench and awkward reaching under the shell, the Prestige series features a Top-Tuning Mechanism.
Snare-Style Convenience: You can tune these timbales from the top using a standard drum key—even in the middle of a set. This is a game-changer for touring musicians dealing with temperature changes that affect head tension.
No More Obstructions: The tension rods recess into the rim, leaving a clean, smooth path for your rimshots.
While stainless steel is famous for being loud and cutting, Brass offers a sophisticated alternative.
Warm & Complex: Brass shells produce a warmer, lower fundamental note with a "dry" character. This prevents the drums from sounding harsh or "tinny" in smaller venues or recording studios.
Studio Ready: The controlled overtones of brass make these the preferred choice for session drummers, as they sit perfectly in a mix without overpowering vocals or horns.
Playing cáscara (rhythms on the side of the shell) effectively requires a good surface.
Recessed Screws: The clamping screws are recessed below the playing surface. You can play intricate patterns on the side of the shell without your sticks hitting metal bolts.
Wide Rib Placement: The ribs (beads) of the shell are spaced to provide a larger "sweet spot" for striking the shell, producing a consistent, woody tone.
Vs. LP Tito Puente Series (Stainless Steel) The Tito Puente Steel set is the industry standard for "Cutting Power." It is loud and bright. However, it uses old-school tuning (wrench required). Choose the Prestige Brass if you want a warmer, more musical tone and the modern convenience of key tuning.
Vs. LP Matador Series The Matador is a fantastic mid-range option, but it lacks the Top-Tuning feature and the recessed hardware. If you are a gigging pro, the ergonomic upgrades of the Prestige series will save you time and frustration on stage.
These are elite instruments that require specialized care.
Secure Import & Handling: Brass shells can dent easily if mishandled during shipping. We use reinforced crating for out-station orders to ensure your timbales arrive in showroom condition.
Genuine LP Warranty: As authorized dealers, your investment is protected against manufacturing defects.
Setup Assistance: The top-tuning mechanism is unique. Our team can guide you on how to seat the heads and tension the rims evenly for the best sound.

Do I need a special key to tune these?
No, the Prestige system uses a standard square drum key (included), just like a snare drum.
Does it come with cowbells?
The set includes the cowbell bracket, but the cowbells and jam blocks themselves are sold separately. We recommend the LP Salsa Bell series to complement this kit.
Is Brass durable?
Yes, but it is a softer metal than steel. It comes with a clear lacquer to prevent tarnishing. We recommend wiping it down after gigs to remove sweat and protect the finish.
Can I mount this on a cymbal stand?
These drums are heavy. They must be used with the included heavy-duty double-braced stand for safety.
