Tycoon Percussion 7-Inch Kanjira TBFD-KJ

A Traditional South Indian Frame Drum for Rich and Dynamic Tones

The Tycoon Percussion 7-Inch Kanjira is a high-quality adaptation of the traditional South Indian percussion instrument. Designed for both authentic and contemporary music, this kanjira provides a wide range of tones, from rich low frequencies to sharp slap notes, making it a versatile addition to any percussionist’s collection.

Craftsmanship and Sound

The shell is constructed from hand-selected, aged Siam Oak wood, which is prized for its durability and for producing warm, resonant tones. The instrument features a drum head on one side made from natural, unbleached goat skin, a material that delivers an authentic sound and feel. The 7″ diameter head and 2 1/4″ depth are perfectly sized to create a wide range of tones and dynamics. A single pair of steel jingles are integrated into the frame, producing bright, vibrant sounds that add a unique brilliance to your performance.

Design and Usability

The TBFD-KJ is lightweight and compact, making it highly portable and easy to transport. This design makes it a great choice for studio rehearsals, live performances, and practice. Its simple yet effective design is suitable for percussionists of all skill levels, from enthusiasts to professionals.

Versatility

Rooted in traditional folk and Bhajan music, the kanjira has been adapted for a modern stage. It is an excellent instrument for adding a traditional, percussive layer to world music, jazz, and other genres, allowing you to explore new rhythmic possibilities and expand your sonic palette.
