A dense wenge core is sandwiched between maple plies, combining maple clarity and resonance with extra focus and attack. The result is a rich, controlled voice that remains articulate across a genuinely wide dynamic range.
The bundle combines AMP6F3, AMS1460, AMB2216 and AMF1413: 10 × 7 and 12 × 8 rack toms, 14 × 13 and 16 × 15 floor toms, a 22 × 16 bass drum, a matching 14 × 6 snare and the TH945B double-tom holder.
Yamaha uses a 30-degree / R1.5 bearing edge on the AMB2216 bass drum for rounded low-end authority, while the toms, floor toms and AMS1460 snare use a 45-degree / R1.5 edge for balanced tone and pronounced attack.
YESS III further reduces acoustic damping so the rack toms vibrate naturally. It works with the low-mass bass-drum holder base and included TH945B to provide secure positioning without unnecessarily loading the shells.
The compact tom-holder base keeps weight and shell contact low. This lets the 22 × 16 bass drum breathe more freely while retaining the practical convenience of bass-drum-mounted rack toms.
Yamaha Hook Lugs support precise and high-tension tuning while making head changes quicker. Their small footprint also helps the hybrid shells retain more of their natural resonance.
The toms and snare use 3.0 mm aluminium die-cast hoops for a strong, tight response with decisive attack and controlled decay. Factory Remo heads provide a professional, familiar starting point for tuning.
The Classic Walnut exterior gives this flagship shell pack its own stage identity, while Yamaha’s Vintage Natural interior coating contributes a refined appearance and supports the series’ carefully voiced tone.
It includes the AMB2216 22 × 16 bass drum, AMS1460 14 × 6 snare, 10 × 7 and 12 × 8 rack toms, 14 × 13 and 16 × 15 floor toms, plus the TH945B double-tom holder.
AMP6F3 supplies the 10 × 7 and 12 × 8 rack toms, the 16 × 15 floor tom and the TH945B double-tom holder. The separate AMF1413 adds the 14 × 13 floor tom.
