Tama STAR Walnut 6-Piece Shell Pack – Garnet Japanese Sen Burst

STAR is Tama's flagship line, taking the knowledge developed for Starclassic further by re-examining every detail to enhance shell resonance. Walnut's naturally EQ'd tone has long been praised on stage and in the studio: the STAR Walnut shells project a booming low end with enough cut to be heard through any mix. The Garnet Japanese Sen Burst finish adds two outer plies of Japanese Sen to the walnut shell, under a lacquer finish. Toms, floor toms and snare are 6-ply, 6mm; the bass drum is 7-ply, 7mm.

STAR drums use die-cast zinc hoops, which are denser and more consistent in shape than triple-flanged hoops. They give a crisper attack, greater projection and a more focused, powerful tone, and they make tuning easier and keep drums in tune longer. Hold Tight washers, a cup-shaped stainless steel washer with a rubber ring, absorb vibration and keep tension rods from loosening, even when you play hard.

Quick-Lock tom brackets make setup and breakdown quick. Slide the switch and the bracket separates into two parts; the memory-lock half stays on the tom stand or floor tom leg, so your positions are saved for the next setup without separate memory locks. Rubber lining inside the bracket further isolates each drum and enhances resonance.

The bass drum spurs have soft, high-mass rubber feet to absorb the impact of the pedal, and a two-piece design that isolates the metal spike from the spur with rubber, so the bass drum resonates freely while staying put. Floor tom legs have hollow, soft rubber tips that absorb downward impact and bring out the floor toms' natural resonance and sustain.
