The series connects Gretsch’s Brooklyn, New York history with today’s Ridgeland custom shop. Its sound is recognisably Gretsch, but deliberately more open and ambient than the tightly focused USA Custom character.
Brooklyn shells use 6 plies of North American maple and poplar and are slightly thicker than USA Custom shells. The construction produces a full, punchy and warm response with a satisfying sense of body.
A 30-degree bearing edge increases head contact with the shell, reinforcing the round fundamental and fast, substantial attack associated with classic Gretsch drums.
Gretsch 302 hoops are 3 mm double-flanged steel. Inspired by hoops used through the mid-1950s, they allow more open sustain and ambient overtones than rigid die-cast hoops while retaining dependable rim response.
Every shell receives the classic Gretsch Silver Sealer interior and a Brooklyn label carrying its model and serial number—small details that connect the modern build to the company’s manufacturing heritage.
Choose a curated Factory Select setup or define a custom shell pack from the available tom, floor-tom and bass-drum options. TBDS can help balance diameters and depths around the way you actually play.
Selected Nitron wraps, satin treatments and gloss lacquers let Brooklyn move from understated studio instrument to unmistakable stage centrepiece. Current finish availability is confirmed when quoted.
Use the TBDS pre-order enquiry to share your preferred sizes, finish and hardware direction. Our team will confirm the final specification, price and current factory lead time before processing the order.
Gretsch has been making drums since 1883, when Friedrich Gretsch opened a small music shop in Brooklyn, New York, making banjos, drums and tambourines. Fred W. Gretsch, the founder’s great-grandson, later bought the company back and returned it to the family.
Gretsch drums have been played by Max Roach, Art Blakey, Elvin Jones, Jimmy Cobb and Charlie Watts, and its USA drums are built in Ridgeland, South Carolina.
