Evans Hydraulic Red Coated Snare — Oil-Dampened Snare with Iconic Look
The Evans Hydraulic Red Coated snare batter brings the oil-filled two-ply dampening technology of the Hydraulic series to the snare drum — producing a thick, punchy, ring-free crack that defined the big, dead snare sounds of 1970s and 80s rock and pop. The sealed oil layer between the two plies provides completely even, consistent internal dampening across the entire head, eliminating ring and overtones without any external gels, rings, or tape.
The coated red top ply adds a further layer of warmth and attack smoothing to the naturally dampened response of the Hydraulic construction — the result is a very controlled, warm snare crack with almost no sustain and a distinctly vintage character.
