La Special 5A Nylon Tip Drum Sticks

The Promark LA5AN is a drumstick from Promark’s “LA Special” series, offering a budget-friendly and reliable option for drummers. It combines the popular and versatile 5A size with the bright, durable sound of a nylon tip, making it a great choice for students, educators, and drummers who need a consistent and long-lasting stick for practice or performance.

Versatile 5A Size with Bright, Durable Nylon Tip

The “5A” size is arguably the most popular and versatile drumstick diameter, striking an ideal balance between weight and agility. It’s suitable for a vast array of musical genres, providing enough power for most applications while remaining light enough for intricate playing.

The key distinguishing feature of the LA5AN is its oval-shaped nylon tip. Nylon tips are highly valued for their brightness, clarity, and articulate sound on cymbals, particularly on ride cymbals, delivering a more defined ping compared to wood tips. They also offer significantly increased durability as they are far less prone to chipping, fraying, and breaking than wood tips, leading to a much longer lifespan and consistent sound.

Durable American Hickory Construction

These LA Special sticks are crafted from American Hickory, the most widely used wood for drumsticks. While the “LA Special” series focuses on value, the use of hickory still ensures a good level of resilience, responsiveness, and durability. Hickory is known for its ability to absorb shock and withstand consistent impact, providing a comfortable and reliable feel during play.

“LA Special” – Unbeatable Value

The “LA Special” line from Promark is designed to provide accessible quality at an affordable price. These sticks are paired by size and profile for basic consistency, but it’s important to note that they are not weight or pitch matched to the same rigorous standards as Promark’s professional-grade models. This allows Promark to efficiently utilize natural variations in the wood, leading to significant cost savings. The LA5AN is an excellent, no-frills option for bulk purchases, school programs, drum students, or anyone seeking a reliable and economical stick that benefits from a durable nylon tip.
