La Special 5A Wood Tip Drum Sticks

The Promark LA5AW is a staple in Promark’s “LA Special” series, designed to be an exceptionally affordable and reliable drumstick option. Based on the universally popular 5A size and crafted from American hickory, it offers a great balance of feel, durability, and versatility for students, educators, and drummers who need a dependable stick for everyday practice and performance.

Versatile 5A Size for All-Around Play

The “5A” size is arguably the most popular and versatile drumstick diameter, often considered the industry standard. It strikes an ideal balance between weight and agility, making it suitable for a vast array of musical genres, from rock and pop to jazz and orchestral work. It offers enough power for most applications while remaining light enough for intricate playing. The LA5AW features a medium taper, contributing to a balanced feel that allows for both powerful attacks and responsive rebound.

Durable American Hickory Construction

The LA5AW sticks are crafted from American Hickory, the most widely used wood for drumsticks due to its exceptional combination of resilience, responsiveness, and durability. Even within the value-oriented “LA Special” line, the use of hickory ensures a solid, comfortable feel and the ability to withstand consistent impact and absorb shock.

Classic Oval Wood Tip

These sticks come with a classic oval-shaped wood tip. This versatile tip design is known for producing a dark, warm, and full-bodied tone across the entire drum kit and cymbals. The oval shape offers a balanced contact surface, ensuring good articulation, projection, and cymbal definition, making it suitable for a wide variety of musical styles.

“LA Special” – Unbeatable Value

The “LA Special” line from Promark is specifically designed to provide accessible quality at a budget-friendly price point. While these sticks are paired by size and profile for basic consistency, it’s important to note that they are not weight or pitch matched to the same rigorous standards as Promark’s professional-grade models. This allows Promark to efficiently utilize natural variations in the wood, leading to significant cost savings. The LA5AW is an excellent, no-frills option for bulk purchases, school programs, drum students, or anyone seeking a reliable and economical practice stick.
