La Special 7A Wood Tip Drum Sticks

The Promark LA7AW is a drumstick from Promark’s “LA Special” series, designed to be a highly accessible and budget-friendly option while still delivering reliable performance. It’s based on the popular 7A size and is made from American hickory, offering a lightweight and nimble stick for various drumming applications, particularly those requiring finesse and lower volume.

Lightweight 7A Size for Finesse and Speed

The “7A” size is one of the thinner and lighter stick options available, making it ideal for drummers who prefer a less weighty stick, play lighter genres like jazz, orchestral, or softer pop, or those who require speed and subtlety. It’s excellent for articulate cymbal work and nuanced dynamics. The LA7AW features a medium taper, which helps balance the stick, offering a blend of control and responsiveness for its light weight.

Durable American Hickory Construction

The LA7AW sticks are crafted from American Hickory, the most widely used wood for drumsticks due to its excellent combination of resilience, responsiveness, and durability. Hickory is known for its ability to withstand regular use and absorb shock, making it a reliable choice for extended playing, even in a lighter stick.

Versatile Oval Wood Tip

These sticks come with an oval-shaped wood tip. This versatile tip design is known to produce a dark, warm, and full-bodied tone across the entire drum kit and cymbals. The oval shape offers a balanced contact surface, ensuring good articulation, projection, and cymbal definition, making it suitable for a variety of musical styles where a lighter touch is desired.

“LA Special” – Value-Oriented Quality

The “LA Special” line from Promark is specifically designed to be an affordable option without significantly compromising on core performance. While these sticks are paired by size and profile for consistency, it’s important to note that they are not weight or pitch matched to the same rigorous standards as Promark’s higher-end models. This allows Promark to offer them at a more accessible price point, making them a great value for students, schools, percussion ensembles, or drummers looking for reliable practice sticks. They may also utilize natural variations and minor cosmetic imperfections in the wood, which contributes to their cost-effectiveness.
