Built to reflect the style and versatility of Tool drummer Danny Carey, this stick has a shape and feel of its own. Each one is printed with Danny's signature and emblem next to the Vic Firth stamp.

Cut-in grip for comfort

The gripping area has a cut-in design for comfort, giving your hand a natural place to sit on the stick.

Tapered butt end for better balance

The butt end is tapered rather than left full width, which improves the stick's balance in your hand.

Nylon teardrop tip

A nylon tip in the classic teardrop shape finishes the stick. If you prefer a wood tip, Danny's model is also made in a wood-tip version (SDC).

This is the nylon-tip version, model SDCN. Vic Firth also makes Danny Carey's stick with a wood tip (model SDC); ask us if you would like that version.

How does it compare with a 5A?

It is fuller and longer: 0.630" in diameter and 16.5" long, against a 5A's 0.565" and 16". It also has a short taper, so it feels more front-heavy.

What does a short taper do?

A short taper gives a front-heavy feel, with more power and durability. A medium taper balances the butt and the tip, and a long taper gives more flex and a faster response.
