The 10x5-inch Full Range Birch snare is voiced to be dry, short and mic-friendly, giving a loud, snappy and cutting attack that suits both live playing and studio recording. Full Range is Gretsch's snare drum series built to cover a full range of sounds and playing situations. The birch models come in 10x5", 12x5.5", 13x6", 14x5" and 14x6.5" sizes, all in a Satin Classic finish.
An 8-ply birch shell with 30-degree bearing edges gives the focused, controlled sound birch is known for, with a quick decay that stays out of the way. It is finished in a matt Satin Classic lacquer.
Gretsch's newly designed Full Range throw-off gives smooth, precise snare adjustment, working with 20-strand steel snare wires for a crisp, sensitive response.
A 12.7mm direct-to-shell mount lets you position the drum on a stand or rack as a side snare, ideal for auxiliary and hybrid setups. The matching Full Range butt plate anchors the wires on the opposite side.
2.5mm triple-flanged steel hoops and six double-ended chrome lugs with brass inserts keep the drum in tune and complete a classic Gretsch look.
Gretsch has been making drums since 1883, when Friedrich Gretsch opened a small music shop in Brooklyn, New York, making banjos, drums and tambourines. Fred W. Gretsch, the founder’s great-grandson, later bought the company back and returned it to the family.
Gretsch drums have been played by Max Roach, Art Blakey, Elvin Jones, Jimmy Cobb and Charlie Watts, and its USA drums are built in Ridgeland, South Carolina.
