The 16-ply shell places eight plies of maple between four plies of mahogany on the outside and four on the inside, with soft 30-degree bearing edges. It is finished in gloss lacquer.

Gretsch's newly designed Full Range throw-off gives smooth, precise snare adjustment, so you can set the wires as tight or as loose as the music needs.

20-strand steel snare wires, anchored by the matching Full Range butt plate, give a crisp, sensitive response from ghost notes to full backbeats.

2.5mm triple-flanged steel hoops and chrome double-ended lugs with brass inserts hold tuning and complete a classic Gretsch look. The drum comes fitted with Remo heads.

Gretsch has been making drums since 1883, when Friedrich Gretsch opened a small music shop in Brooklyn, New York, making banjos, drums and tambourines. Fred W. Gretsch, the founder’s great-grandson, later bought the company back and returned it to the family.
Gretsch drums have been played by Max Roach, Art Blakey, Elvin Jones, Jimmy Cobb and Charlie Watts, and its USA drums are built in Ridgeland, South Carolina.
