The 14x5-inch shell delivers the more immediate SensiTone voice: subdued power, a crisp spike and an even decay that stays controlled. It is quick enough for detailed studio work yet carries the authority expected from a professional brass snare.
Pearl forms the shell from 1.5mm beaded brass and gives it a hand-aged patina finish. The treatment tempers the shell’s naturally lively direction, allowing old-world warmth, growling overtones and controlled sustain to sit beneath its modern projection.
The SR-150 Click-Lock strainer uses an internal C-shaped nylon clip to connect the throw-off arm to the tension dial. It helps prevent the lever from disengaging or the dial from loosening, even when the wire tension is set very low.
Pearl’s 2.3mm SuperHoop II triple-flange hoops balance tuning integrity with maximum playable shell resonance. They retain the openness of a flanged hoop while giving rimshots and cross-sticks a confident, professional response.
The classic CL-55 bridge lugs keep shell contact low, reducing restriction to the shell’s vibration. Ten SST-5047 tension rods per side provide the fine control needed to dial in this premium brass voice.
The SN-1420I system uses 20 even-tension, uncoated snare strands with phosphor-bronze end plates. The result is a sensitive, balanced response that brings ghost notes and delicate articulation forward without sacrificing a solid backbeat.

The shell is 1.5mm beaded brass with Pearl’s hand-aged patina finish.
Pearl describes the patina treatment as taming the lively direction of the brass shell, allowing subtle warmth, throaty power and controlled sustain to come through.
Its internal nylon clip links the throw-off arm to the tension dial, helping prevent accidental lever disengagement and tension-dial movement—even at low snare-wire tension.
It uses 2.3mm SuperHoop II triple-flange hoops, CL-55 bridge lugs and ten SST-5047 tension rods per side.
Pearl fits SN-1420I Ultra-Sound wires: 20 even-tension, uncoated strands with phosphor-bronze end plates for optimum sensitivity.
