Yamaha builds every Stage Custom Birch shell from 100% birch for the quick attack, short decay and tight separation associated with its birch drum sound. The hand-lacquered finish gives the kit the polished appearance normally expected from higher-tier instruments.
The SBP2F5 shell pack combines a 22x17 bass drum, 10x7 and 12x8 rack toms, 16x15 floor tom and 14x5.5 matching snare. It is a balanced, familiar setup for rehearsal, recording and live performance—not the compact Stage Custom Hip configuration.
Stage Custom Birch uses metal components developed through Yamaha’s long drum-making experience. Absolute lugs, Y.E.S.S. mounting and the original ball mount and clamp bring reliable setup, positioning and tuning performance beyond the kit’s price class.
The six-ply 7.2mm shell construction transfers impact efficiently through the drum. The result is a focused response with a strong fundamental, clear separation between drums and the projection needed for both stage and studio work.
Y.E.S.S. reduces hardware contact and mounts at a shell nodal point so the tom can resonate naturally. Nylon bushings add stability, while the ball mount lets the rack toms sit close together and move freely into a comfortable playing position.
The bass drum uses die-cast claw hooks with rubber insertion plates. This protects the wooden hoop and helps reduce unwanted mechanical noise around the bass drum hardware.
Integrated stoppers on the bass drum legs simplify a secure setup and help keep the 22-inch bass drum planted while playing.
This is the full-size five-piece Stage Custom Birch SBP2F5. Stage Custom Hip is a separate compact series and is not part of this finish family.
