Why the 18″ Bass Drum? The 18″ x 14″ kick drum (often called a “Bop” size) is incredibly punchy and fast. Because the internal column of air is smaller, the beater response is instantaneous. When tuned high, it sings beautifully for Jazz; when tuned low and muffled, it provides a surprisingly tight, focused sub-bass perfect for R&B, Hip-Hop, or electronic hybrid setups.

  • No. The 18″ bass drum in this configuration is “virgin” to maximize its resonance. The included CL945LB Tom Clamp is designed to attach to one of your existing cymbal stands to hold the 12″ rack tom.

  • You will need a snare stand, a hi-hat stand, at least one cymbal stand (to hold your cymbal and the included tom clamp), a bass drum pedal, and a throne. We highly recommend Yamaha’s 700 or 800 series hardware packs.

• Can I play rock music on an 18″ bass drum?

  • Absolutely. With a thicker, muffled drumhead (like an Evans EMAD) and a lower tuning, this 18″ drum delivers a tight, highly focused punch that cuts through heavy guitars brilliantly.
