Roland RT-30HR Octapad Dual Trigger

Roland RT-30HR Acoustic Drum Trigger: Unlocking Hybrid Drumming Potential

The Roland RT-30HR is a compact and highly effective dual-zone acoustic drum trigger, engineered to provide precise and independent detection of both drumhead and rim strikes on an acoustic drum. This capability is crucial for hybrid drumming setups, enabling drummers to layer electronic sounds with their acoustic drum tones, trigger samples, or control virtual instruments from their traditional kit. The RT-30HR is particularly well-suited for snare drums but can also be used on toms that require both head and rim triggering.

Advanced Dual-Zone Sensing and Ultra-Quick Installation

The core strength of the RT-30HR lies in its dual-trigger capability, which allows it to send two separate signals: one for the drumhead and one for the rim. This means you can assign two distinct electronic sounds to a single acoustic drum—for instance, an acoustic snare drum can trigger a sampled clap on the rim hit while maintaining its natural snare sound on the head, or augment the acoustic snare with a fatter electronic snare sound on the head.

Installation is exceptionally fast and simple, thanks to a newly developed self-guided mount. This innovative mechanism automatically sets the sensor in the optimum position against the drumhead, eliminating the need for fussy manual adjustments after mounting. It securely attaches to nearly any metal drum hoop, including the latest inward-curved hoop styles, ensuring reliable operation without slippage.

The RT-30HR also features a low-profile design (10 mm lower than previous Roland triggers), which enhances playing comfort by keeping the unit out of the way of sticks. The side-mounted trigger output jack further improves cable management, preventing cables from interfering with playing.

Robust Construction and Wide Compatibility

Built with professional performance in mind, the RT-30HR features a durable fiberglass-reinforced ABS body and a secure mounting mechanism. This robust construction ensures dependability and can withstand the rigors of aggressive drumming and frequent use.

The RT-30HR is designed for seamless compatibility with Roland’s range of electronic percussion modules:

• Roland TM-2 Trigger Module: An ideal companion for expanding an acoustic kit with electronic sounds.

• Roland TD-series V-Drums Sound Modules: Integrate directly into full V-Drums setups for expanded sound capabilities.

• Roland SPD-series Percussion Pads: Use the trigger to expand the input capabilities of multi-pads like the SPD-30, SPD-SX, or SPD-20X, allowing for more diverse hybrid performance options.

By combining the natural feel and dynamics of an acoustic drum with the limitless sonic possibilities of electronics, the Roland RT-30HR is an essential tool for modern drummers looking to explore and excel in hybrid drumming.
