Tama precisely positioned and aligned the transmission angles at the contact points between the cam, direct link and footboard to achieve the right overall balance of power, speed and feel. The design is patented.
A sturdy double-link cam connection holds the rotation axis bearings equally from both sides, giving almost perfect energy transfer from footboard to cam for phenomenal reaction speed and power.
The upper cam section slides back and forth without steps to change the cam's turning radius. A larger radius gives a more linear motion between footboard and beater, with high sensitivity for nuanced playing. A smaller radius gives a more dynamic, non-linear motion. Set it anywhere in between to suit how you play.
Tama's patented footboard angle adjustment is built into the clam-shaped connection between the linkage and the footboard, so you can set the footboard angle for a completely personal feel.
The Sync-Coil is a steel spring 1.5 times heavier in gauge than Tama's Cobra Coil. It helps return the footboard for extra quickness, and slides along the base plate so you can choose how much return assistance you want.
Swivel Spring Tight lets the spring base swivel freely, so the spring pulls straight through the entire stroke for a smooth, light action. The Speedo-Ring rocker has a built-in ball bearing in place of a nylon rocker cam, and the Quick-Hook makes set-up and tear-down easy.
Oiles bearings, used in the aerospace industry, have even less friction than standard ball bearings, stop side-to-side motion and last longer. The two-piece Hinge Guard Block holds the bearing more evenly, minimising stress and maximising smoothness while adding to the pedal's sense of power.
The black felt beaters have a slightly tapered, traditional shape that strikes the bass drum head evenly for clear, dynamic articulation.
A connecting rod links the main pedal to the secondary pedal on the left, which has an anchor plate to help keep it in place. Para-Clamp II Pro hoop clamps use a three-dimensional rubber grip to hold the widest variety of bass drum hoops without scratching them, with the T-bolt on the side of the footboard so you can set up from the throne.

A direct drive pedal links the footboard to the cam with a rigid link instead of a chain, for immediate energy conversion and accelerated beater movement. Slide the cam to change its turning radius, set the footboard angle independently, move the Sync-Coil along the base plate for more or less return assistance, and set the spring tension.
