Yamaha HHS9D flagship hi-hat stand: a ball-bearing Direct Link drive and FP9-style mirror footboard for smooth, precise control.

Engineered Like a Superbike

The Yamaha HHS9D isn’t just a stand; it’s a precision instrument built with the same philosophy as Yamaha’s championship-winning motorcycles. Designed as the companion to the flagship FP9 Bass Drum Pedal, this stand eliminates the “spongy” feel of chain drives, replacing it with a solid, ball-bearing-driven connection that feels like an extension of your leg.

At The Bangalore Drum Shop, we recommend the HHS9D for professional drummers who need absolute transparency between their foot movement and the cymbal sound.

Direct Link System: Zero Latency

Most hi-hat stands use a chain or strap. The HHS9D uses a rigid Direct Link System made of high-strength metal.

  • The Physics: Chains stretch; metal links do not. This means every millimetre of foot movement is instantly transferred to the top cymbal.

  • Ball Bearings: Friction is the enemy of speed. Yamaha has integrated precision ball bearings into the footboard hinge and the link connection. The result? A “floating” feel that is incredibly smooth and silent—perfect for studio recording where squeaks can ruin a take.

Yamaha Flagship HHS9D Direct Link Hi-Hat Stand - HHS9DThanks to its unique design, Yamaha hardware has attained a carefully balanced blend of high-level functionality, user convenience, and ruggedness.

Derived from Yamaha’s many years of experience and expertise in developing drum hardware, our entirely new flagship hi-hat stand sets a second to none- standard.

Yamaha Flagship HHS9D Direct Link Hi-Hat Stand - HHS9DSharing its conceptual DNA with our FP9 flagship foot pedal series, the HHS9D features the same distinctive mirror-finished footboards combined with elegant blue colored accents.

While maintaining Yamaha’s renowned ease of use, various integrated adjustment mechanisms allow musicians to customize settings in favor of their individual vision. The overall result is a high-quality sound and usability that takes every drummer’s performance to the next level.

Ball Bearing and Mirror finish Foot board

Incorporated ball bearings in upper and lower part of Yamaha’s Direct Link System, as well as the hinge sections, ensure smooth footwork in combination with the mirror-shine polished footboard.

Yamaha Flagship HHS9D Direct Link Hi-Hat Stand - HHS9D swivel leg

Independent Swivel Leg

The individually free moving double-braced legs, enable the stand to be set up in practically any desired position. When set according to the position markings, it provides outstanding stability for every drum performance in any situation possible.

Yamaha Flagship HHS9D Direct Link Hi-Hat Stand - LC9

Twist to Set Hi-hat Clutch

With the LC9, a new hi-hat clutch got adapted to the HHS9D, allowing clutch nut attachment with a simple twist. While the use of harder felt leads directly to significant sound improvement, the double lock nuts actively prevent unintended loosening during a performance. In addition, a protective plate complements the hi-hat shaft.

Yamaha Flagship HHS9D Direct Link Hi-Hat Stand - HHS9D cymbal seat

Cast Metal Hi-Hat Cymbal Seat

Alongside the use of harder felt, the metal cymbal seat ensures a sharp and rich foot-close sound. As with our HS1200 series, angle adjustment nuts with anti-loosening mechanism, and cymbal cup protectors are also included.

Yamaha Flagship HHS9D Direct Link Hi-Hat Stand - HHS9D momory lock

360 Memory Lock

The new and uniquely shaped memory clamp allows not only for vertical positioning but also for fixation in the rotational direction, ensuring a consistent position of the angle adjustment nut.

Yamaha Flagship HHS9D Direct Link Hi-Hat Stand - HHS9D tension adjustment dial

Alloy Tension Adjustment Dial

The adjustment dial for the spring tension is made of durable metal featuring an instruction mark on top, for easy identification of rotation direction even during your performance while confirming the tension strength by indicator.

Yamaha Flagship HHS9D Direct Link Hi-Hat Stand - HHS9D foot board angle adjustment

One-touch Footboard Angle Adjustment

The footboard angle is also freely adjustable via loosening only a single bolt.

Yamaha Flagship HHS9D Direct Link Hi-Hat Stand - HHS9D spike

Low Position Heel and Anti-Skid Heel Spikes

Just like the FP9 and highly requested by our artists, we incorporated our low-profile heel design for much smoother playability. The heel section also sports spikes similar to the FP9, enhancing the overall stability.

Yamaha Flagship HHS9D Direct Link Hi-Hat Stand - HHS9D baseplate

Throw and Go Baseplate

For easier transport, the baseplate can be fixed in a raised position. To prevent lateral movement of the footboard the connecting plate is made of high-strength metal supporting the aluminium made baseplate. Enjoy this perfect blend of strength and lightweight design.

Is This The Right Stand For You?

Vs. Yamaha HS1200D The HS1200D is a legend, but the HHS9D is the evolution. The HHS9D adds Ball Bearings for a smoother stroke and the Twist-to-Set Clutch. If you play high-speed metal or intricate fusion where every ghost note counts, the bearing drive of the HHS9D is worth the upgrade.

Vs. DW 9000 Series (2-Leg) The DW 9000 is famous for its “whippy” eccentric cam feel. The Yamaha HHS9D offers a Linear feel—meaning the resistance is consistent from the top to the bottom of the stroke. If you prefer consistency and predictability over acceleration, choose the Yamaha.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • Is it compatible with other brands of hi-hat cymbals?

    • Yes, it fits all standard 12″, 13″, 14″, 15″, and 16″ hi-hat cymbals from Zildjian, Sabian, Meinl, Paiste, etc.

  • Is it heavy?

    • Yes, it weighs approx. 7.6kg. This mass is intentional—it anchors the stand to the floor so it doesn’t “walk” away from you during heavy double-bass playing.

  • Does it come with a case?

    • No, it comes in a cardboard box. However, the baseplate folds up (“Throw-and-Go” style) making it surprisingly compact for hardware cases.

  • Why blue accents?

    • The blue accents are the signature of Yamaha’s flagship hardware line, designed to visually match the FP9 pedals and the flagship Phoenix (PHX) drums
