The TD316 combines performance-grade pads, two crashes and a stand-mounted hi-hat with a streamlined MDS-Compact 2 rack. It is designed for drummers who want serious expression, expandable sounds and capable home recording without moving to the larger footprint of an acoustic-design kit.
The V31 uses the same advanced core engine as Roland’s flagship V71, with a multi-sampled library developed in collaboration with Drum Workshop. More than 1,000 instruments and 200 kit locations sit behind a 4.3-inch colour display, while EZ Edit makes fast changes to instrument type, pitch, muffling and balance straightforward.
The 12-inch PD-12P snare uses three piezo sensors and positional sensing for nuanced head, rimshot and cross-stick response. Two PD-8H rack toms and a larger PD-10H floor tom place their sensors away from the centre, reducing hot spots and keeping dynamics smoother as your strokes move across the head.
The VH-10 mounts on a conventional hi-hat stand for familiar pedal travel and continuous open-to-closed control. Two dual-zone CY-12C-T crashes provide space for expressive fills, while the CY-14R-T ride adds independent bow, edge and bell response with choke support.
The KD-10 kick pad accepts a conventional bass-drum pedal and combines physical beater movement with a cushioned playing surface for realistic rebound and lower in-room noise. The MDS-Compact 2 rack provides a sturdy foundation with room to reposition or expand the setup.
The V31’s built-in wireless adapter connects to Roland Cloud through the Roland Cloud Connect mobile app. Audition and download compatible V-Drums Instrument Expansions and Kit Packs directly to the module, keep system software current and run up to six installed expansions at once.
Coach mode combines familiar timing exercises with Phrase Trainer, Stroke Monitor and Blast Beast for rhythm, control and endurance work. Drum Pass adds 100 free Melodics lessons, while Bluetooth audio and MIDI let you practise with songs, backing tracks, lesson videos and compatible apps.
The USB-C connection carries audio and MIDI between the V31 and computer software. In Vendor mode it can send up to 30 audio channels to a DAW and receive up to 32, allowing individual kit elements to be recorded and mixed without a separate multichannel interface. SD media supports onboard audio recording and song playback.
It is aimed at developing and experienced drummers who want expressive pads, an acoustic-style hi-hat, a full two-crash cymbal layout and serious sound and recording flexibility in a compact home or studio setup.
A kick pedal, snare stand, hi-hat stand and drum throne are not included. Headphones or a monitor, drumsticks, a USB-C cable and an SD card are also separate unless specifically bundled by the store.
The module includes its AC adaptor, special connection cable, sound-module mounting plate set and documentation. Purchase of a V-Drums 3 Series kit also includes six months of Roland Cloud Ultimate membership, subject to Roland’s activation terms.
Yes. The V31 accepts WAV files from SD media and stores up to 500 user samples, including factory-loaded user samples. Each pad assignment can combine internal instruments and imported samples across three layers.
With Roland’s driver in Vendor mode, the V31 sends up to 30 recording channels and receives up to 32 playback channels at 44.1, 48 or 96 kHz. Generic class-compliant mode provides two-channel recording and playback at 44.1 kHz.
The built-in wireless network connection supports Roland Cloud downloads and system updates through Roland Cloud Connect. Bluetooth audio and MIDI support wireless play-along and compatible music-app workflows.
Yes. The V31 includes a dedicated digital trigger input for a compatible Roland digital snare, ride or hi-hat, plus two analogue trigger inputs for additions such as a fourth tom or other pad.
