080-40998370The Roland TD316 is not just an update; it is a total reimaging of what a recording drummer needs. Replacing the legendary TD-17KVX, the TD316 borrows the brain power of the flagship V71 ecosystem to deliver a playing experience that was previously impossible at this price point.
At The Bangalore Drum Shop, we recommend the TD316 for serious home studio producers and drummers who refuse to compromise on dynamic range.
Unlike previous mid-range modules that used static samples, the V31 Module uses Roland’s proprietary Prismatic Sound Modeling.
Behavioral Modeling: It doesn’t just play a sound; it constructs it in real-time based on where and how hard you hit.
DW Soundworks Integration: For the first time, experience the grit and organic tone of Drum Workshop (DW) acoustic drums, meticulously sampled and built directly into the module.
Round-Robin Samples: The "machine gun" effect is gone. The module cycles through slightly different sample variations for every hit, ensuring your rolls sound human, not robotic.
Roland has solved the biggest complaint of electronic drumming. The new PD-8H and PD-10H tom pads feature Offset Sensors.
The Innovation: By moving the sensor away from the center, Roland has eliminated the "hot spot" (the loud spike in volume when hitting the center). You can now play smooth crescendos from edge to center with perfect dynamic consistency.
PD-12P Snare: The 12-inch snare pad features a triple-sensor array for high-resolution positional sensing, distinguishing between shallow rimshots, cross-sticks, and center hits effortlessly.
Forget buying a separate audio interface. The TD316 connects to your laptop via a single USB-C cable to transmit 32 channels of discrete audio.
Multitrack Recording: Record your Kick, Snare, Toms, and Cymbals onto separate tracks in your DAW (Logic, Ableton, Cubase) simultaneously. This allows you to mix and EQ your electronic drums exactly like an acoustic kit after recording.

Vs. Roland TD-17KVX2 The TD316 is the direct successor and a massive upgrade. The V31 module is far more powerful than the TD-17, offering DW samples and 32-channel USB recording (vs stereo on the TD-17). The new tom pads also fix the hot-spot triggering issues of the older generation.
Vs. Yamaha DTX6K3-X While the Yamaha uses silicone pads (TCS), the Roland TD316 uses tuneable Mesh heads which many players find closer to acoustic drum tension. The TD316's ability to record 32 individual audio tracks via USB makes it the superior choice for home recording enthusiasts.
Firmware Updates: We ensure your V31 module is updated to the latest firmware version before delivery, so you have the latest sound packs ready to go.
Expansion Ready: Looking to add a china cymbal or a second snare? We stock the specific Roland triggers and mounts compatible with the V31 module.
Authorized Support: As authorized dealers, we handle all warranty claims directly with Roland India, ensuring a hassle-free ownership experience.
Does this kit come with a hi-hat stand?
No. Like most pro-tier kits, the hi-hat stand, snare stand, and kick pedal are sold separately. This allows you to use your existing hardware or choose the specific pedal feel you prefer.
Can I load my own samples?
Yes! The V31 module accepts user samples via SD card, allowing you to layer your own wav files with the internal sounds.
Do I need a laptop to use the DW Soundworks?
The V31 module has many DW samples built-in for standalone play. However, the kit also comes with a membership to Roland Cloud, giving you access to the DW Soundworks VST plugin on your computer for even deeper production work.
Is the footprint smaller than the TD-17?
It is very similar. The MDS-Compact 2 stand is designed to fit into tight bedroom corners while still offering enough width for a comfortable playing ergonomic.
