Tune it up and the steel shell gives a bright tone with a tight crispness, for a backbeat and accents that cut clearly through the band.
Smooth resonance when tuned low
Bring the tuning down and the 14"x6.5" shell opens up into a smooth resonance, so the same snare covers crisp, high tunings and fuller, deeper sounds.
Reinforced shell with a centre ridge
The matte black steel shell is formed with a ridge around its centre as reinforcement for a strong shell, and giving the drum its classic steel-snare look.
Matte black, matched hardware
The lugs, hoops and strainer are all colour-matched in matte black, so the whole drum has a clean, stealthy look on stage.
Full snare response and easy tuning
Twenty-strand regular carbon steel snare wires give a full snare response, and 8-hole triple flanged hoops on MSL60 lugs make tuning simple. The MUS65 strainer lets you set wire tension and switch the snares off.

What is included?
The 14"x6.5" snare drum with heads and snare wires fitted. A snare stand and sticks are sold separately.
Will it fit my snare stand?
Yes. It is a standard 14-inch snare, so it fits any snare stand that takes a 14" drum.
Is there a smaller version?
Yes. The Metalworks 10"x5.5" (BST1055MBK) has the same matte black look in a compact size for a side or effects snare. Use the Size selector on this page to switch between them.
What is the centre ridge for?
Tama forms a ridge around the centre of the steel shell as reinforcement.
