This kit’s handcrafted 7-ply Hybrid Oak shells (with a phenolic resin center ply) redefine oak’s voice – yielding huge fundamentals, tight attack, and incredible dynamic range.
Yamaha applies its traditional Japanese uzukuri finish to expose and enhance the natural oak grain. Under the high-gloss Magma Sunburst coat, fiery red and black tones swirl above the sanded grain – a look drummers call “absolutely stunning” in person.
Flagship hardware completes the build: internal bass-drum weights for extra low-end punch, single-post Absolute lugs for shell integrity, plus beefy 2.3mm steel DynaHoops and dark-chrome finishes for an aggressive stage aesthetic.
The result is a stage-ready kit that’s equally at home on arena stages or in the studio – providing big, clear tone that Yamaha touts as “massive power and articulation” especially for live playing.
Key Features
Hybrid Oak Shell Construction: 7-ply hand-crafted oak with a central phenolic core provides pure, focused fundamentals and enhanced resonance. The innovative Yamaha Air-Seal shell construction (staggered diagonal seams) adds strength and tuning consistency.
Uzukuri-Style Finish: Traditional Japanese uzukuri technique (black stain wiped to highlight the grain) gives the oak a luxurious, tactile figure. The Uzu Magma Sunburst color coats that grain in glowing reds and blacks, creating a “fiery” look that’s been praised as “absolutely stunning” in person.
Bass Enhancement Weight: Each bass drum shell has Yamaha’s internal lug weights – adding mass at key points for deeper, tighter low end and more projection.
Yamaha Air-Seal System: Staggered seam construction and “Air-Seal” shell assembly ensure uniform strength and a wide tuning range across all drums.
Premium Hardware: Equipped with Yamaha’s newest gear – 2.3mm triple-flanged DynaHoops (dark silver finish) and dark-chrome Absolute single-post lugs maximize tuning stability and resonance. Matching oak bass drum hoops continue the kit’s aesthetic theme and contribute to the kit’s warm, deep tone.
YESS III Tom Mounts: Rack toms mount via Yamaha’s YESS III suspension system (uses specialized Yamaha clamps). Includes one Yamaha TH-945B double-tom holder. (Note: YESS mounts are Yamaha-specific and require Yamaha-compatible tom arms.)
Remo Heads Included: Outfit each drum for immediate use – Vintage-Coated Remo UT batter heads and clear Resonant heads are installed, giving warm attack and open sustain.
Versatile, Powerful Sound: Oak’s natural character – “massive output and crisp, dry sensitivity” – combined with the hybrid shell and heavy-duty hardware make this set cut through any mix. It’s tuned for versatile response from rock to fusion and beyond.
