Roland VAD716 V-Drums Acoustic Design Electronic Drum Kit (Gloss Natural)

The ultimate expression of electronic drumming, full-depth acoustic wood shells, and flagship digital pad integration

The Roland VAD716 is the crown jewel of the V-Drums 7 Series, combining the commanding physical presence of full-size wooden drum shells with Roland’s most advanced digital sensing platform. Powered by the flagship V71 sound module—developed in collaboration with Drum Workshop (DW)—the kit includes the next-gen PD-14DSX digital snare with physical throw-off lever and tension adjustment, VH-14D digital hi-hats, CY-18DR digital ride, and a 22-inch KD-22 wood kick drum featuring an innovative drumhead-mounted sensor. Configured in a striking Gloss Natural transparent maple finish with two rack toms, two 14-inch floor toms, two 16-inch crash cymbals, and supported by heavy-duty DTS-30S double-braced chrome hardware, the VAD716 sets a new world standard for hybrid stage and studio drum setups.

Flagship V71 Sound Module — DW Acoustic Collaboration & Roland Cloud Expansion

At the core of the VAD716 is the revolutionary V71 module, featuring an all-new multi-sampled sound library recorded in world-class studios alongside Drum Workshop (DW). Equipped with a vibrant color display, deep V-Edit tools, wireless software update capability, and Auto Slot Load functionality, drummers can instantly stream new V-Drums Instrument Expansions and Kit Packs via Roland Cloud Connect or transition seamlessly to computer-based production with included DW Soundworks software integration.

Full-Depth 6-Piece Wood Shell Pack in Gloss Natural — Unrivaled Stage Command

The VAD716 delivers the spatial footprint, rebound, and visual authority of a master-built acoustic kit. Featuring a 10″ PDA100 rack tom, 12″ PDA120 rack tom, two 14″ PDA140F floor toms, and a 22″ KD-22 kick drum, the full-depth wood shells feature a stunning high-gloss transparent maple Gloss Natural finish that highlights the natural grain of the wood.

Next-Gen Digital Trigger Suite — PD-14DSX Snare, VH-14D & CY-18DR

Roland’s multi-element digital pad infrastructure provides unmatched expression. The upgraded PD-14DSX digital snare incorporates enhanced positional sensing along with an acoustic-style snare throw-off lever and physical tension knob right on the shell. Combined with the VH-14D digital hi-hats and CY-18DR digital ride, the system captures subtle ghost notes, positional bell/bow/edge strikes, and hand muting without false triggers.

Pro Studio Connectivity — 32-Channel USB-C & 8 Balanced Direct Outputs

Designed for professional recording studios and FOH touring rigs, the V71 module is built with balanced XLR and 1/4″ main outputs plus eight independent 1/4″ balanced direct outputs for multi-track mixing at the console. Over a single USB-C cable, the interface sends 32 discrete audio channels and full MIDI data directly to your DAW, alongside built-in Bluetooth audio/MIDI for wireless tracking and jam sessions.

Heavy-Duty DTS-30S Chrome Hardware & Built-In Coach Tools

The kit comes supported by Roland’s top-tier DTS-30S chrome drum stand package, featuring double-braced legs and heavy-duty boom arms. Onboard training features include an updated Coach mode (Phrase Trainer, Stroke Monitor), SD card recording/playback, companion V71 Editor and V-Drums Play app compatibility, and a 6-month Roland Cloud Ultimate membership with access to 100 free Melodics lessons.

How does the PD-14DSX snare differ from previous digital snare models?

The PD-14DSX features next-generation multi-element positional sensing combined with acoustic-style hardware controls right on the shell—including a physical snare throw-off lever and tension knob to adjust snare feel and response dynamically.

How do the audio outputs work for live sound and recording?

The V71 module offers stereo main outputs (XLR and 1/4″), eight assignable 1/4″ balanced direct outputs for routing individual drums to FOH consoles, and a USB-C connection that streams 32 discrete digital audio channels straight into your DAW.

Can I expand the VAD716 with extra pads?

Yes. Beyond the dedicated digital trigger inputs, the V71 module includes 14 analog trigger inputs (including 4 extra auxiliary trigger jacks: AUX 1–4) for adding extra tom pads, crash cymbals, or BT-1 bar triggers.
