Mount the DSU50 sensor unit on your bass drum hoop and you're ready to go, without placing and soundchecking individual mics. Mixing, effects and backing-track playback are built in, so in many situations the EAD50 handles a complete drum PA setup on its own.
The DSU50 uses a matched pair of condenser capsules in an XY stereo layout, co-developed with a leading Japanese microphone manufacturer and tuned for acoustic drums. A floating mount reduces vibration and mechanical noise, so it captures everything from the kick to the cymbals with a balanced, natural sound.
The DSU50 also has a dedicated kick trigger that turns each bass drum stroke into a precise trigger for the EAD50, so you can layer samples in sync with your acoustic playing.
Eight balanced individual outputs let the sound engineer mix each drum or effect channel on its own, and locking balanced XLR main outputs keep the signal clean over long cable runs. Five XLR/TRS combo inputs with +48 V phantom power let you add your own microphones or line sources.
Six assignable Modifier knobs control effects such as reverb, EQ and compression in real time, and LED rotary faders always show the EAD50's actual settings, so recalled Scenes match exactly. Go deeper with the free EAD Touch app over Bluetooth MIDI or USB-C.
A custom-designed DSP delivers reverb, delay, modulation and compression tuned for drums, and a PCM library built to blend naturally with acoustic drums adds depth and presence. You get 2,317 voices with 256-note polyphony.
Sample your own playing or external sources right on the unit and play them back as sounds. Play two stereo tracks from a USB drive or SD card, for example a backing track to the PA and a click only to your headphones, and layer phrases live with the looper.
Five trigger inputs (splittable to ten) accept single-zone, dual-zone, three-zone and multi-piezo pads, including pads not made by Yamaha. USB Trigger Link adds up to 12 more pads through a compatible external module over one USB cable.
The EAD50 works as an 8-in/10-out USB audio interface for multitrack recording, with Cubase AI bundled. Use the Rec'n'Share app to make videos, a fully customisable click saved per Scene, and the Talk function to switch between playing and speaking for online lessons.

No. The EAD10 sensor unit works only with the EAD10, and the DSU50 is not compatible with the EAD10. The EAD50 works with the DSU50 and standard microphones.
