The TD516 is built for serious practice, recording and live preparation. Roland’s V51 module is paired with digital snare, hi-hat and ride pads, responsive positional toms, two crashes and a larger KD-12 kick pad, giving the five-piece configuration the scale and articulation of a performance instrument.
The V51 shares its core sound library with Roland’s flagship V-Drums platform and includes more than 1,000 instruments with 200 kit locations. Multi-sampled sounds developed with Drum Workshop sit alongside deep tuning, muffling, head, layering and studio-processing controls, while the 4.3-inch colour display and six faders keep everyday adjustments immediate.
The PD-140DS connects digitally to the V51 and combines a full-size 14-inch playing surface with multi-element sensing. Position, rimshots, cross-sticks, buzz rolls and dynamic changes are interpreted naturally, so subtle technique reaches the sound engine instead of being reduced to simple trigger levels.
The 14-inch VH-14D mounts on a conventional hi-hat stand and delivers precise open-to-closed resolution, bow and edge response, and touch muting. The 18-inch CY-18DR ride reads bow, edge, bell and playing position, while two additional crashes complete a spacious cymbal layout for expressive performance.
Two 10-inch PD-10P rack toms and a 12-inch PD-12P floor tom use triple-sensor designs for consistent response across their mesh heads. The reinforced KD-12 offers a broad 7.5-inch playing surface and stable feel for confident single- or double-pedal technique.
Built-in wireless connectivity links the V51 to Roland Cloud through the Roland Cloud Connect mobile app. Compatible V-Drums Instrument Expansions and Kit Packs can be auditioned and downloaded to the module, while the included six-month Roland Cloud Ultimate membership opens access to additional content and DW Soundworks.
One USB-C cable carries MIDI and up to 32 channels of audio to and from a computer in Roland driver mode, allowing individual kit elements to be captured in a DAW. Stereo master outs, two direct outs, traditional MIDI, dual headphone connections, mix input and SD recording make the V51 equally capable in a studio, teaching room or stage rig.
The MDS-Standard 3 rack offers a wide, adjustable foundation with flexible tom and cymbal placement. Coach tools, Phrase Trainer, Stroke Monitor, Bluetooth audio and 100 Melodics lessons support daily development, while four analogue trigger inputs and three digital inputs leave space for future expansion.
It suits experienced and ambitious drummers who want premium digital-pad expression, a larger playing footprint, deep sound editing and serious multitrack recording capability for home, studio and performance preparation.
A kick pedal, snare stand, hi-hat stand and drum throne are not included. Headphones or a monitor, drumsticks, a USB-C cable and an SD card are also separate unless specifically included in a store bundle.

Yes. The V51 accepts WAV samples from SD media, stores up to 500 user samples and supports compatible V-Drums Instrument Expansions and Kit Packs downloaded through Roland Cloud Connect.
With Roland’s driver in Vendor mode, the V51 supports 32 recording and 32 playback channels at 44.1, 48 or 96 kHz. Generic class-compliant mode provides two recording and two playback channels at 44.1 kHz.
Yes. The V51 provides three digital trigger inputs, four quarter-inch analogue trigger inputs and its multipin harness, supporting additions such as another tom, cymbal or compatible digital pad.
