Working from the natural character of brass, the Black Brass uses a relatively thick 1.5mm brass shell for a fat, powerful sound with warm, full resonance, plus solid attack with extreme clarity and sensitivity.

Steel Mighty Hoops for openness
Tama's triple flanged 2.3mm Steel Mighty Hoops give a "wetter", more open sound than die-cast zinc hoops. On the Black Brass they add to the openness of its sound.
