The LST148 Big Black Steel fills the role of the classic, heavy-hitting rock snare, and then some. Its husky 8" deep, hardened steel shell provides maximum power and volume, with deep tone and solid crack and attack, making it the ideal choice when you need to cut through the din of loud guitar amplification.
The 1mm steel shell has a matte black finish, set off by black nickel hardware, for a look that matches its heavy sound.
Tama's triple flanged 2.3mm Steel Mighty Hoops give a "wetter", more open sound than die-cast zinc hoops.
Black nickel MSL35 Hi-Tension lugs match the black nickel hoops and MLS30 strainer and butt end.
Twenty-strand Starclassic carbon steel snare wires keep the big shell crisp and articulate. Starclassic snare wires are designed so that, as you add tension, the strands press closer to the snare head, and redesigned end plates and thinner straps give optimum response.
The 14"x8" snare drum with heads and snare wires fitted. A snare stand and sticks are sold separately.
1mm steel with a matte black finish.
It fits any snare stand that takes a 14-inch drum; check that the basket opens wide enough for an 8-inch depth. Ask us if you are not sure.
We stock several S.L.P. snares, from the deep Big Black Steel to the wood-hooped Studio Maple. Use the Model selector on this page to switch between them, or visit us to hear them side by side.
